AYURVEDIC BLISS THERAPY

Abyhanga

Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic practice involving a full-body massage with warm oil. This treatment is a key aspect of Ayurvedic daily routines (Dinacharya) and is believed to help balance the nervous system and improve circulation and lymph drainage. Abhyanga can be practiced as self-massage or offered by a trained practitioner.

Key Aspects of Abhyanga

Oils Used:

  • The type of oil used in Abhyanga is chosen based on an individual’s dosha (body constitution) and the current season. Common oils include sesame oil for Vata, coconut oil for Pitta, and sunflower oil for Kapha.
  • Medicated oils infused with herbs may also be used for specific therapeutic purposes.

Application:

  • The oil is warmed to a comfortable temperature before application.
  • The massage involves gentle but firm strokes along the length of the limbs and circular motions over joints and chest, always moving in the direction of the heart to promote circulation

Timing:

  • Abhyanga is ideally performed in the morning before bathing to energize and prepare the body for the day.
  • It can also be done in the evening to relax and soothe the body before sleep.
